Wood's Gravity Method
Colonics in Portland
At Love Being, I provide a premium, specialized approach to digestive wellness through the Wood's Gravity Method of colonics.
Unlike conventional pressurized machine cleansing methods, this gravity-fed, closed system relies entirely on the natural, gentle rhythm of your body to clear internal stagnation, relieve deep gut discomfort, and restore systemic vitality.
Why a Wood's Gravity Colonic?
The Wood's Gravity Method is a safe, time-tested method that is as gentle as it gets in the world of colonics. Unlike a machine, your body sets the tempo and the pace. We listen to and interact with your body throughout your session through presence, conversation, light bodywork, and dynamic water pressure.
Think of it like this: What's the difference between getting a massage from a massage chair versus getting a massage from a skilled massage therapist? There's really no contest.
Your session takes place in a cozy, quiet, private room, with soothing music and thoughtful guidance from a highly skilled, warm, trauma-informed practitioner—me :)
I use an advanced, state-of-the-art water filtration system; I properly sterilize all equipment and thoroughly clean the room between sessions.

How Many Colonics Should I Do?
While a single session can provide a profound sense of lightness and physical relief, a series of 2 to 3 closely spaced sessions is highly recommended if you are new to colonics or seeking a deeper metabolic or energetic reset. In general, I recommend people schedule a series of two colonics about 48-72 hours apart, with a third roughly a week later. I am happy to share my expert opinion at your first session.

How do I prepare for a colonic?
Preparing for a colonic is easy. Follow these simple tips for success:
-
48 hours before your appointment, focus on eating fresh, whole foods only.
-
Stay hydrated. Drink at least 1-2 quarts of water per day.
-
Avoid eating anything that you know specifically causes you trouble. Everyone is different. What is challenging for one person may not be for you.
-
Avoid greasy, fried, overly processed foods and alcohol.
-
24 hours before your appointment, dramatically simplify your diet.
-
Drink 2-4 cups of peppermint tea per day. This can help with gas.
Does a colonic hurt?
Because the Woods Gravity Method of colonics relies on gentle, natural flow rather than automated pressure from a machine, the process is remarkably comfortable. It is never painful; however, you may feel moments of intensity as your body releases what is stuck. Light cramping, a feeling of fullness, or really needing to "go" are common, along with a feeling of catharsis or gratitude at release.
What can I expect after a colonic?
Most people are fine to do whatever they want after a colonic; however, some people feel tired and want to rest. Stay hydrated and eat simple, warm, nourishing, easily digestible whole foods. A feeling of lightness, clarity, and joy is common after a colonic.
Who should NOT get a colonic?
Contraindications
Colonics may not be suitable for individuals with certain health conditions, including recent abdominal surgery, cancer of the bowel, active inflammatory bowel disease, the 1st or 3rd trimester of pregnancy, or any case in which someone is bleeding internally.
